RTE Position Statements
RTE sees wellbeing as engaging moment by moment in best quality choices – a way of life where each action and step improves quality of life… RTE recognises that wellbeing to one person may differ to someone else due to the differences in values and what we appreciate and see as important… RTE promotes and encourages people to discover their own meaningful markers based on what ‘feels’ best for them and matches what they are seeking, or how they view life…
Through our own experience with cancer… we know too well the impact of ‘the mindset’ when facing a challenge. We both found that with a more open mindset approach, many changes arrived… many of which helped build resilience, strength and self-nurturing. We see this as a possibility for all… RTE promotes a safe environment that opens the door to look beyond perceived limitations… and brings the resources to support this…
Food and nutrition
RTE recognises the influence of healthy natural nutritious food on wellbeing… We understand everyone’s situation is different and the availability and possibility for certain foods may vary. RTE also understands that everyone’s body is different with particular sensitivities, allergies and preferences. We see it is an individual prescription… We encourage everyone to explore what works for their unique needs and situation… We support the positive action steps to achieve personal wellbeing.
Exercise / Physical activity
RTE acknowledges the benefits of exercise and keeping moving… We understand everyone’s situation is different and the availability, possibility and desire for exercise may vary. RTE also understands that everyone’s body needs are different with particular physical, physiological, emotional challenges. We see it is an individual prescription… We encourage everyone to explore what works for their unique needs and situation and recommend keep moving as a strategy… We recommend informing your medical team before exercise…
RTE Personal Statement around cancer related matters
No matter what cancer, what treatment, what diagnosis, what prognosis, there is a common agreement among medical, health and other services and providers – around the value in client’s playing an active role in their health management and self care. That’s the key focus of our support; the platform for ‘how’ to gain the benefits through growing key ingredients… the voice, choice, the wellbeing.
RTE recognises there are many different approaches to treatment and recovery… We understand everyone’s situation is different and the availability and possibility for treatments may vary. RTE also understands that everyone’s approaches are different with particular beliefs, understandings and preferences. We see it is an individual choice… RTE respects and is non judgmental with the choices people make… RTE does not advise or give opinions… RTE shares quality, trustworthy evidence based and anecdotal information with its participants and community. The choice is always up to the individual…
We see that cancer does not discriminate… it is something that affects most of us in some way at some time. The doorway to RTE community is open… no matter what country, race, religion, age, sex, and type of cancer, stage of cancer or role you play … The key to its unlocking… is our personal heartfelt approach that delivers a safe passage towards personal empowerment in the face of the cancer experience… RTE uses language, approaches and networks that build a non judgmental, open and accepting environment. We respect the beliefs of others without promoting them.
Caring /supporting roles
RTE recognises the importance of self care for the person in the caring role, their families and other supporters during that time… Having been in the caring role we respect and understand the impact caring has on relationships, finances and wellbeing and life in general…. We see that the more supported and empowered the carer, the greater opportunity to better manage these impacts… for this reason RTE BREATHE for Life Journal for Cancer are relevant to those in the caring role too…
